Ottawa-based traditional rock band

Derecho Party formed in rural Ottawa in the spring of 2022, as five musicians regrouped after lockdown with a focus on original songs and live performance. Derecho Party has been gigging regularly around the Ottawa area for the past two years.

Rooted in traditional rock, with elements of 60s rock, pop rock, blues, and Canadiana, the band features each member contributing to songwriting and vocals. Band members hail from British Columbia, Cape Breton, and the Ottawa Valley, and their music reflects lived Canadian experience.

“What impressed this old man the most are the original songs written by band members…
Freedom from Freedom is a powerful social commentary, and What’s an Old Man? tells its story in an insightful and affecting manner.”
